The only thing I really wasn´t prepared for was pushing the bike through soft snow for 100k out of the 150k race – and that´s exactly what happened....

Race Report: Rovaniemi 150 2016

After my Iditarod Trail Invitational race last year it was pretty clear that I would return to Rovaniemi for a third time. It has manned checkpoints and shelter, fire and water on most of...

World Championship Beach Race

I know Dutch riders are strong but how do they beat Logic and Physics? It all started 2 months ago when I spotted on-line that there was to be a World Championship Beach Race over in Holland in the middle of November. I contacted the organisers John and Wout to ask why there wasn’t a Fat Bike category, their reply should have flagged up a big red warning sign in my head (but it didn’t) they said “Fat Bikes aren’t popular over here in...

Croyde Ocean Beach Breaker

Held on Sunday 12 July, this unique coastal mountain and fat bike race saw even the most experienced of bikers dig deep as they navigated the stunning 24km course across the Braunton Burrows in North Devon. The challenging course proved to be real calf-cruncher but saw Alex Dawson of Bike Motion Racing take the title of King of the Dunes in the Open category, with a time of 1 hour 9 minutes and 46 seconds; Pete Dawe of...
